| | Anyhow,
the train journey to Mombasa was great and the food too was great. The cabins
were clean, clean beddings & great service from staff. I would take the train

on
a train from Nairobi to Mombassa, Kenya. (choo in Swahili means toilet) choo choo
train, get it was the most intresting of it i miss to choo there again!, The
grossest part about this train is the fact that the toilets are basically
"squat" toilets, on which you straddle a hole in the floor that goes
DIRECTLY ONTO THE TRACKS. I found this out when the train stopped for a
mechanical fix and while I was standing next to the car with the "choo toilet"
a bunch of excrement and urine came out at the bottom (you
are NOT supposed to use the choo toilet when it is stopped). Mike

'LUNATIC' TRAIN So is called the night train to Mombassa. If you can afford
it, take a 1st class compartment, it's nearly 2nd class 'european' standard.
A simple dinner is served on board and there is time for breakfast before the
train draws into the station. The food is not excellent but the cutlery &
dinner service are fron the colonnial times and the waiters are nice and friendly. The
train goes through the Tsavo Park, but at night (3-5 in the morning), so you won't
have a chance to see the animals.

little cabin was very cute and we were quite taken with the quaintness of everything.
The journey took us around 16 hours, but we only covered a distance of about 250
miles! Not the quickest mode of transport, but a very pleasant one. -------------------------------------------------- Best
Way to Get from Nairobi to Mombasa The best way to
get from Nairobi to Mombasa is to take a flight or bus. That said, some people
prefer the train, as it is a more 'romantic' journey. collection------------------------------------------------- The
overnight train from Nairobi to Mombasa is one of the world’s classic rail journeys
as well as a rare colonial gem. An old diesel pulls
out of both stations simultaneously at 7pm and dinner is served immediately —
the waiters trying not to spatter soup on their tunics, or you. The rattling of
the carriage rocked me to sleep immediately, but make sure you wake early for
sunset to see animals on the savannah if you’re coming up to Nairobi or the Manugu
plains as you descend to the coast and Mombasa. After

to Mombasa is also possible by rail, there is a single railway system running
from Mombasa through Nairobi to Uganda. Mombasa has a railway station and Kenya
Railways runs overnight trains from Nairobi to Mombasa. Train
journeys are extremely comfortable, but quite long and delays are possible. First
class ticket is good and passengers are provided with breakfast, lunch, dinner
and free drinking water in a two person compartment; second class service includes
two meals and a bed in a four person compartment; third class is for the Kenyans,
but seats are limited. It is recommended to mind your valuables at night. If
you have a low monetary fund, the train is a good option and an excellent experience,
a reminiscence of the colonial days in Kenya -------------------------------------------------------------- Take
